I am still ruminating on Mascha Schilinski’s Cannes-winning MASTERWORK, SOUND OF FALLING- a haunting, century-spanning ensemble piece that bears witness to multiple generations of women that "...take up spectral residence in a German farmhouse."
I especially enjoyed this piece by my film critic friend (and friend of the site) Olga Artemyeva for Screen Anarchy. The first truly great film of 2026 so far.

Now in its third year, The Popcorn List is an annual survey of critically lauded feature films currently without wide release. This year's edition is offering up 25 films recommended by film festival programmers from across the United States.
